A belly dancer in Singapore is quoted for each event, not from a fixed list. The two things that set most of the price are the number of dancers and the length of the performance. After that come props and costume changes, custom choreography, the date, and the venue and travel. Send the details below and you get a price for your date.
What moves the price
- Number of dancers. One dancer costs less than a pair, and a pair less than a troupe.
- Length of the show. A short surprise at a birthday costs less than a full main act at a gala dinner.
- Props and costume changes. Wings, LED props, a sword or a change of costume between pieces add to the fee.
- Custom choreography. A routine made for your brand, your song or your theme is quoted separately.
- The date. Friday and Saturday bookings cost more than weekdays. Year end, Chinese New Year and wedding season are peak periods.
- Venue and travel. A venue far from central Singapore, or one with difficult access, can add travel and setup costs. Overtime is quoted separately too.
What a fee includes
The fee typically covers the performer's time, a briefing before the event, preparation and the agreed performance time. Special costumes, travel to remote venues, overtime and custom choreography are quoted separately. If you want Arabic drummers with the dancer, ask for them in the same quote. See Arabian Nights belly dancers.
How to compare two quotes
A cheaper quote is not cheaper if it is for one dancer and a short show while the other is for two dancers and a longer set. Ask each quote to state:
- the number of dancers,
- the length of the show and how many appearances,
- the props and any costume changes,
- who handles the sound and the music,
- what is extra, such as travel or overtime.
Agree the overtime rate before the day, in case dinner runs late.
Learn it yourself or book a dancer
Some people think about learning belly dance to perform at their own wedding or party. For one event, it is rarely the cheaper option. A beginner needs months of regular classes before performing in public, plus a performance costume and private coaching before the date. Booking a professional dancer for one night usually costs less, with far less risk on the day.
Ways to spend less
- Book a weekday if your event allows it.
- Match the number of dancers to the room: a solo dancer is enough for a home party.
- Choose one strong show at the right moment rather than a long set.
- Book early for year end and wedding season, when the choice is wider.
